How to join a Zoom call using your phone

What is Zoom?

Zoom is a computer program or mobile app which helps us connect using phone, chat and video call.

You might meet with your behaviour support practitioner over the phone the traditional way or you might join a Zoom video or audio call.

How to join a Zoom call using your phone

Using your phone, you can connect to Zoom calls and meetings with or without the internet. If you would like to join a video call, which allows you to see others in the meeting, please see our article “How to join a Zoom video call using your mobile phone or tablet”.

If you’d like to join your Zoom call with audio only, you can do this by dialling into the call using your landline or mobile phone keypad — just like making a regular phone call.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’m not in Australia — how do I dial in using my phone?

If you’re not able to join using the internet, you can dial into the call using your phone.

There are two options:

  1. Use the same number provided. This will incur international call costs.
  2. Call a local number. Please ask your practitioner to arrange this in advance. They can add your local Zoom number to the Zoom invitation.

What will my name appear as on the Zoom call?

When you join a Zoom meeting using a video call, you’re able to enter your name and other members of the call will see your name. When you join a Zoom call or meeting by dialling in, your name will not be visible, but your phone number will be. If you have a private number, your number won’t be visible.

What happens if I don’t want support over the phone?

It’s important that you’re comfortable with your behaviour support and the way in which you participate. If you have technical issues or would prefer in-person support, please speak with your behaviour support practitioner, your support person or your support coordinator.

Who do I contact if I would like more help?

Please contact your behaviour support practitioner, support person or support coordinator. Please also feel welcome to call Ability Consultants on 1300 694 625, or email us at [email protected].
