Behaviour Support Practitioner

Amelia has worked in many capacities with children and young adults who have diverse abilities, as a Nanny, Family Educator, Teachers Aid and Early Childhood Educator. Amelia also has a brother with Autism. This motivated her as a young adult to further develop her knowledge and skills connected to working with and supporting others with diverse abilities. During this journey, she has had the opportunity to work alongside a transdisciplinary team at Giant Steps School for children with Autism. As an Educator/Aid she was able to learn from Music Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists. During this time Amellia contributed to Individual Education Plans (IEP's), completed an intensive course on Autism and was a part of implementing a research project for Relationship Development Intervention (RDI).
Amelia has a strong interest in being able to identify strengths to help clients with opportunities, breaking tasks down into a step-by-step approach to achieve short and long-term goals.
She is a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
